Jenius LLC Supports Air Force Human Systems Integration Assessment Effort Jenius LLC has been selected by Air Force Human Systems Integration Office (HSIO) to support the development of HSI Assessment processes and products for programs in aquisition.  Leveraging Jenius' expertise in both Air Force and Navy HSI, this effort will focus on assuring the policies and tools needed to assure successful HSI are identified.  Dr. Jen Narkevicius will be contributing content to develop tools to support HSI in the systems engineering and acquisition process.  Jenius is pleased to be working again with Alion MAAD Operationas on this effort to move Air Force HSI forward. ONR Awards SBIR to Jenius LLC Jenius LLC has been selected by ONR to receive a 2009 Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award.  Jenius and team member Alion MA&D Operations, will work on the challenge of Optimized Manning and Crew Design Tools for Future Surface and Undersea Platforms.  Manpower is a huge driver of Life Cycle Cost and Total Ownership Cost and cannot be ignored in the acquisition of new materiel systems.  To maintain high levels of mission effectiveness while reducing the required manpower Human Systems Integration (HSI) must be an integral part of the acquisition, requirements, and design processes.  HSI can be utilized to bring manpower analyses closer to systems engineering analyses, ensuring that these technologies best support the crewmembers that must interact with them.  The overall goal of this SBIR effort is to design and develop a flexible framework and architecture for a suite of optimized manning and crew design tools that can be utilized to assess HSI aspects of new or updated ship designs.  Phase I tasks include gathering required CONOPS for a selected surface or undersea platform and associated empirical human performance data to leverage, extend, and integrate selected current tools, models, data and algorithms. Jenius Delivers HSI Training Jenius LLC has been selected by NAVSEA 05H to deliver instructor lead HSI courses to practitioners and program managers across NAVSEA.  In addition, Jenius has been selected to provide subject matter expertise for a new integrated courseware version of the courses, working with Sonalysts, Inc of Waterford, CT.  The team is converting both the HSI 101 course for Program managers and systems engineers and the HSI 102 course for Practitioners to ensure all acquisition professionals responsible for HSI are trained and ready to ensure that human capabilities and limitations are represented throughout the acquisition and systems engineering processes.  These courses will provide many HSI practitioners and program managers the technical background they need to successfully integrate operators, maintainers, sustainers, and managers in the engineering process resulting in operationally successful systems delivered to the fleet.
